Akwasi Frimpong making history upcoming Thursday at the Winter Olympics

The name Akwasi Frimpong might not directly sound familiar. But he is the epitome of the strong shall persevere. Akwasi is the only Ghanaian participating currently at the Winter Olympics which are being held in Pyeongchang, South Korea.Upcoming Thursday (or Friday) he will represent Ghana as the only Skeleton athlete from an African nation. Akwasi Frimpong was born in Ghana and at 8 years old moved to live in Amsterdam-Zuidoost in the Netherlands. He has always been an athlete and had a dream to one day be a part of the Olympics. Unfortunately he didn’t get his chance as a sprinter or even as a member of the Dutch bobsleigh team. But in 2018 he saw his dreams come true by placing himself in the skeleton Olympics, which resembles a lot like the bobsleigh sports.

Whether he wins or not, Akwasi wishes to motivate kids in Ghana to chase their dreams.

Team Alkebulan wishes Akwasi all the best. May you be the first Ghanian to take the gold at the winter Olympics. Either way, we’re proud!
